What to expect when you contact your elected officials.
Making our views known to our elected officials is an important part of being a participant in a democracy. We live in the age of communications and officials receive a large number of communications daily. Their staffs make use of it and communicates input to the officials. The response you receive usually represents a prepared statement on the issues you raised. We would all love a personal response but it is rarely possible. But, be aware that your input is valuable and you will be heard.
Email is the most efficient form of communication. Many officials have a website with a place to send emails to them. In other instances you will find an email address listed.
