Making Health Care Work

Having successfully written multiple pieces of legislation, and regulation, I was a little taken back by Mr. Berliner's obvious short sightedness, and lack of knowledge of "The Process" in the Oct. 20th Star Democrat.

Anyone who is experienced at the regulatory process will tell you how easy it is when you have a common goal, and no politics polarizing the process.

Practicing health care providers, hospital administrators, mental health professionals and others on the front line of health care, deal with finances daily - we are the ones who try and keep the fraud at bay, and keep costs where they should be.  Not only do we have good ideas, we keep the system working, and can and do offer practical, efficient, cost effective ways of supporting a patient based health care system.  The problems arise in this area, as in most other areas of legislation when people write legislation with greed and profit for that top 1% in mind, rather than the environment, healthcare, education improvement, infrastructure support, etc.

By the way, Mr. Berliner, the reason we have the ACA (Affordable Health Care Act) is that the other system you want to return to, was a dismal failure.  It left millions uninsured, in bankrupcy, overran our ER's, and was rapidly depleting resources.  President Obama stepped up to another difficult situation, and made a difference.  What can you say that you have done to make a positive difference for the citizens of the Shore, the State or the Country?
