Haddaway's Compassion for Millionaires

I might once have been disappointed by reading of Del. Haddaway repeating the zombie lie that millionaires were "driven" from Maryland by the tax rates. But in her party recently, the lie is not an accidental flaw in character, it is a honed tactic to be expected.
Data from Maryland's own Office of the Comptroller showed us, long ago, that after the tiny 2007 increase in the millionaire's tax, there were just over 3,800 fewer millionaire returns in 2008 - but only 547 of them were due to change of residence! Most of the reduction was from people who simply earned less, and thus were not subject to the millionaire's tax rate.
Admittedly, it is tough to slip from an eminently reasonable million dollar plus income, into the ghettoes where people scratch by on, at best, $999,999. Del. Haddaway and the GOP are to be commended for their compassion for these economic refugees, whose millionaire status not even Bushonomics could protect, and I’m sure you can donate your old Hermes, DKNY, and Patek Philippe at her office to be distributed on basis of need. But Del. Haddaway’s compassion for near-millionaires is not sufficient reason to excuse her use of lies, even tired, old ones.
