A Prescription for Rep. Harris

Andy Harris purports to represent our district, Maryland's First Congressional District, which has, literally and figuratively, the Chesapeake Bay at its heart. Yet Mr. Harris votes against funds to stem the slow death of the bay by pollutants, and he voted to keep the Environmental Protection Agency from updating rules to stave off pollution from pesticide.

The people in this district are suffering even worse unemployment than the state as a whole. When people are out of work, mortgages fall further behind and foreclosures blight neighborhoods. Yet Mr. Harris voted to kill the emergency mortgage relief program for unemployed homeowners.

Since Dr. Harris is anti-choice, wouldn't educating adults in sexual health be a good way to reduce abortions? Yet Dr. Harris voted to defund Planned Parenthood, the largest non-profit organization providing contraception and reproductive health services to the poor and the uninsured.

Politics is different from anesthesiology, Doc. Your victims are awake, now. How about, for a change, you do no harm?
